Clipper City Challenge
15-16 September 2018
This year will see the 12th Clipper City Challenge Regatta with teams from city companies battle it out over two days for the coveted trophy.
This long running regatta brings both novices and experienced sailors together for a weekend of fun, yet competitive, sailing with ample opportunity to socialise and make new business connections.
Each team of 12 people charters a Clipper 70 yacht, these large ocean racing yachts prove excellent platforms for novices but even regular sailors will have to adapt new techniques to get the most out of these big boats. On board with your team will be our friendly professional crew who will teach and guide you throughout the weekend.
“The calibre of staff both on and off the water is very high. The skipper and mates are always enthusiastic and professional, demonstrating a level of professionalism that is hard to match elsewhere in the sailing industry. With the impressive size of boats Clipper Events offers, it is easy to spot the other teams on the water."

The weekend kicks off with a relaxing breakfast ashore where you can meet your Skippers, Mates and your fellow crew. With time to ask questions and fuel yourself ready for a day out on the water. Once on board your crew will give you a safety brief with time to claim your bunk and discover below decks. Out on the water you’ll be taught how to sail these large yachts, even for competent sailors there are new skills to learn when you’re dealing with a 40 tonne yacht! Then it’s time to start putting those skills into practice with a couple of round the cans races in the Solent before heading into Cowes for relaxed dinner at a local yacht club with charity auction in aid of Sail 4 Cancer.
The next day consists of some more races to show off those skills before returning to Portsmouth for an ‘On the Dock' Prize-giving of the converted trophy.
